This impressive history museum called The Battle of Stalingrad (Ru) opened in 1985, with everything entirely devoted to the defence of Stalingrad. The museum includes eight exhibition halls, a Triumphal Hall, four dioramas, a library, a cinema hall and a building housing the Panorama, as created by artists from Grekov’s Battle Painting Studio in 1981.

The Memorial Historical Museum in Volgograd

The Memorial Historical Museum

Opened in 1937, this is the only museum in the Southern Federal District that is devoted to the events of the Russian Civil War, which took place immediately after the Revolution. The museum is located in a mansion from 1903, that used to belong to the Repnikov family, which was known in Tsaritsyn as a family of merchants and philanthropists. Part of the permanent exhibition of the museum is devoted to the Red Cross Movement.
